Mirror:Mirror - In ancient Egypt mirrors were placed in tombs to create gateways or portals for the soul to travel into the afterlife. This vertical format digital film explores the mirror as a bridge between worlds; an infinite corridor transporting our many past-present-future selves all displayed in an endless parade of incarnations. The primary image of a full-length Victorian era mirror standing in a stubble field was a result of a gen ai prompt that was then edited for use as a matt to frame the various scenes, each built from hundreds of short, animated loops. The musical materials include field recordings, Foley sounds, analog modular synthesis, digital electronic instruments and disparate vocal, string and percussion samples. The opening passage reminiscent of a gypsy cafe orchestra was created, in part, using generative ai prompts. These diverse sonic elements were then mixed, layered and processed to create the final electro-acoustic score.
